Job description

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a highly motivated Business Auditor  to join our team! This role is reporting to the Director, Commercial Insurance, the Business Auditor for Commercial Insurance will work closely with the Senior Business Auditor, Trainers, and Leaders in the planning, execution and reporting of internal audit projects including conducting files reviews designed to maintain or improve standards, reduce the risk of errors & omissions exposure and create efficiencies.

What you will do :

  • Assessing and understanding business risks related to client files
  • Conducting Commercial Insurance operational and quality file reviews to assess compliance with workflows and processes
  • Provide formalized feedback and recommendations on audit results and training needs
  • Assess the quality of the supporting documentation within the brokerage files
  • Research and provide recommendations on workflow improvements
  • Review insurer audit findings and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with Senior Auditor, trainers and leaders to support implementation of key initiatives as a result of audits
  • Assist with the execution of initiatives to increase operational efficiency

What you will bring :

  • Minimum 5 years Commercial Insurance experience
  • RIBO license or ability to obtain
  • CAIB or CIP designation an asset
  • 3 years or more of internal / external audit experience or equivalent preferably in a property and casualty insurance setting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, and balance multiple priorities and project deadlines
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to summarize audit results in clear, concise, understandable language
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Experience using EPIC broker management system an asset
