Discipline of Psychiatry & Mental Health at UNSW

The UNSW discipline of Psychiatry & Mental Health leads the delivery of psychiatry education within the medical program as well as a broad program of research focused on understanding and improving mental health in our community.

Staff come from a wide range of professional backgrounds including the medical specialty of psychiatry as well as psychology nursing and other allied health fields public health neuroscience and the social sciences.

Details of the role

This Data Analyst position plays a key role working within Faculty of Medicine & Health Centre for Big Data Research to contribute actively to the provision of high-quality analyst support to the translational research activities of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Mental Health Service including data linkage projects that position data as a key asset in driving value-based care decision making and service evaluation and reform.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for providing research design statistical analysis data visualisation and interpretation of results to inform policy and practice. The position will contribute to the conduct of highquality data-driven research to improve service delivery and health outcomes for Mental Health consumers and their families carers and support persons.

This position will be responsible for all stages of the data lifecycle from data preparation and cleaning to advanced statistical modelling. This position requires a combination of advanced technical skills understanding of Australian data governance principles and a commitment to conducting rigorous ethical and impactful public health research.

The role reports to the Senior Project Officer Mindgardens Neuroscience Network will work directly with the Clinical Director Psychiatry Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service and is supported by the Centre for Big Data Research with no direct reports.
