Duties

As part of your duties as a Records Classifier / Reviewer, you will ensure the RCMP's information resources are properly identified, protected, and processed for both physical / electronic records.

In addition, you will process requests, respond to enquiries from clients and may liaise with other RCMP records resources across Canada and other federal government departments.

Work environment

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Information Management (IM) Records Unit is looking for talented and skilled individuals to join our section.

We provide support to clients and employees on the effective management of information assets (paper and electronic) all while supporting knowledge sharing of RCMP Policy for IM stewardship.

If you enjoy working onsite, getting your steps in, contributing to multi-disciplinary projects that involve working closely with various teams within the unit and you excel at client services, this opportunity will be of interest to you! Our team is located in a modern building, convenient access to bus routes immediately outside of the building, with free use of a gym.

Please note that work is currently performed onsite and the selected candidate will be required to report to the workplace five days per week.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish an inventory of candidates to be considered for opportunities.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an employer-approved alternative.

NOTE : You must provide proof of education credentials. If you obtained your degree outside Canada, it is your responsibility to demonstrate its equivalence, please see more information in the "Other Information section"

Experience providing client services.

Experience using a computer and a variety of software programs, this may include but not limited to : word processing, e-mail, database and spreadsheet applications.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience performing general office duties such as, preparing documents, mail runs, data entry, photocopying, scanning, shredding, and / or managing a shared email inbox.

Experience in providing records management services (i.e. : indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retaining, archiving and / or destroying).

Experience developing electronic and / or hard copy filing system(s)

Experience maintaining electronic and / or hard copy filing systems

Experience with various types of filing systems including but not limited to : alphabetical, numerical, geographical, chronological, block numeric or alpha numeric

Experience classifying or coding records in a records management function

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

Willingness to attend in office daily in London, Ontario

Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel expenses.

Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment.

The process to obtain an RCMP security clearance may involve but is not limited to a security / reliability interview and a field investigation which includes matters of criminal activity, verification of credit / financial status, reference checks, education, employment, etc.

As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Reference checks may be sought.

An interview may be administered.

A test may be administered.

An assignment, secondment, or acting appointment requires approval of your supervisor.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent will be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the advertised appointment process.

Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language(s) of their choice.

A random and / or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
