Job description

The General Manager will lead the plant operations and will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production, personnel management, safety, quality, and business development, ensuring seamless execution and continuous improvement in a fast-paced job shop environment. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong focus on operational excellence, sales growth, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations, including production, scheduling, quality assurance, and delivery performance
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and control costs
  • Monitor and report operational metrics, ensuring alignment with company targets
  • Lead the production team to meet customer demands with a focus on precision and quality
  • Lead efforts to expand market presence and drive revenue growth
  • Develop strategies to identify and pursue new opportunities while strengthening existing customer relationships
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set sales goals and execute business objectives
  • Oversee the quoting and estimating process to ensure timely, competitive, and accurate proposals
  • Build, train, and motivate a high-performing team that values accountability and continuous improvement
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture focused on professional growth and collaboration
  • Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to enhance team skills and performance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, operational procedures, and safety standards
  • Align operational objectives with broader organizational strategies
  • Oversee and implement policy acknowledgment and compliance activities for the team
  • Drive corporate initiatives, including reporting and assessment programs, to enhance operational and organizational effectiveness
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business
  • Monitor and improve quality control systems to uphold the company’s reputation for precision and reliability
  • Address any challenges affecting production or project delivery proactively and effectively
  • Manage P&L performance, ensuring profitability and cost management
  • Oversee production costs, inventory, and resource planning to align with financial goals
  • Review and approve capital expenditures to ensure strategic investment in operational resources

Qualifications

  • College degree, diploma, or certification in a related field (e.g., machining, manufacturing, or business)
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing experience, with 5+ years in supervisory or management roles in a machining or fabrication environment
  • Extensive experience in project execution, managing customer-driven manufacturing projects from quoting to delivery
  • Proven ability to oversee complex production schedules, resource allocation, and customer requirements in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong background in sales and business development within the manufacturing industry
  • Proven ability to develop new business opportunities, drive revenue growth, and maintain excellent customer relationships
  • Experience with negotiating contracts, managing proposals, and delivering successful customer projects
  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, materials, and production equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP / CRM systems for managing operations, project tracking, and customer relationships
  • A proven leader with experience in change management and transformation, particularly within machining and fabrication industries
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives
