Roles and Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systemsInstall, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systemsLocate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floorsCut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittingsMeasure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machinesSelect the type and size of pipe required and measure, cut, thread, bend, clamp, solvent cement or solder pipeAssemble and install valves and fittingsJoin pipe sections and secure them in positionTest pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gaugesInstall sinks, tubs and toiletsInstall underground storm sanitary and water piping systemsMay provide information to supervisors for preparation of cost estimatesFollow all company policies and procedures including Trotter & Morton’s Health and Safety programRequired to complete Field Level Hazard Assessments regularly and ensure apprentices are also completely correctlyResponsible for reporting any unsafe work practices to SupervisorResponsible for mentoring and training apprenticesPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills
