OTA / PTA Lab Technician

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the School of Health Sciences and Course Instructor, this position will support the safe and efficient operations of OTA clinical labs, including on‑site student support, teaching support, and the implementation and maintenance of laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Course Instructor, the Lab Technician is responsible for :

• Consulting with the course instructor and attending all preparatory laboratory meetings
• Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques
• Reinforcing, demonstrating, assisting and supporting pre‑learned principles and their application to skills and procedures
• Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of laboratory equipment
• Supporting and maintaining lab safety, cleanliness and organization
• Providing observation and evaluating student skills and progress using developed guidelines and criteria
• Reporting on student progress / achievement to the Course Director
• Maintaining records of attendance
• Ensuring an equitable and accessible learning community
