About this Position

The Investment Products, Marketing and Strategy team is the team responsible for all securities products offered by Primerica. This team drives the development and review of Securities products and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to launch new products or make any changes to existing offerings. The team works closely with the Executive Leadership team and business line leaders to solve business problems through research, analysis and compelling recommendations. Investment Products, Marketing and Strategy team members have access to a unique vantage point to participate and shape some of the most important strategic decisions for Primerica.

Primerica is looking for candidates at the Vice President – Investment Products level, who are team-oriented, critical thinkers with a passion for solving business problems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the Primerica securities product shelf continues to be well suited for the needs of Primerica clients and representatives and continues to advance Primerica’s mission of creating financially independent families. The role will require the candidate to continuously review the securities products shelf for potential improvements and work with various stakeholders, internal and external, to deliver necessary changes. The candidate will need to act as the subject matter expert on securities products by being up to speed with competitive as well emerging trends. The successful candidate will also need synthesize findings, present recommendations and participate in presentations to the Primerica leadership team.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Role Overview & Key Accountabilities

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable in high visibility settings, be able to innovate, and build a deep working knowledge of Primerica’s unique capabilities and assets. Successful candidates may work alone in some projects and may work with large teams in other projects. Key accountabilities will include :

  • Ongoing management and review of all securities products offered by Primerica – this includes reviewing performance of existing products, fund managers, portfolio managers, sub-advisors etc. and recommending any necessary changes
  • Work closely with Primerica Representatives to gather feedback on existing products and identify any opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare materials and lead product shelf and performance review meetings for securities products
  • Lead and coordinate project management with internal and external stakeholders for Investment Products related initiatives
  • Act as the subject matter expert on industry tools and technology (Morningstar, Client Data Now etc.)
  • Manage the Primerica securities microsite and ensure that all product related information and content on the microsite is updated on a regular basis
  • Co-ordinate US / Canada special projects and initiatives
  • Identify and implement initiatives in conjunction with Training & Development teams to support mutual fund licensing growth and continuing education activities
  • Liaise with Fund Manager partners for new product launches
  • Conduct competitive / business environment research to determine emerging trends and analyze the implications of those trends on Primerica's products and strategic plan
  • Synthesize findings, present recommendations and participate in presentations to the Primerica leadership team
  • Work closely with the Investment Marketing team toSupport Primerica investment products marketing objectives in CanadaFacilitate regulatory requirements for mutual fund and segregated fund reporting (Fund Facts, Management Report of Fund Performance (MRFP), Simplified Prospectus)

The VP Investment Products will be an integral part of the Investment Products, Marketing and Strategy team, and will be expected to act as a highly fungible resource. The focus of the Investment Products team can vary from time to time, and the successful candidate will be expected to work on the immediate priorities for the business and the team at the time. The above responsibilities may vary depending upon on experience, education as well as demonstrated skill set and understanding of the Primerica business model.

Ideal Candidate

  • Undergraduate / postgraduate degree from top-tier institution with exceptional academic performance
  • Strong financial orientation and project management experience
  • Experience with securities products and the securities regulatory environment in Canada
  • Strong understanding of Mutual Fund products, preferably with Mutual Fund product management experience. Mutual Fund License an asset (Canadian Securities Course or IFSE Mutual Funds Course)
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with the ability to lead and facilitate discussions. Track record demonstrating excellent management, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to clearly present complex concepts to a wide range of audiences, both in size and experience
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other common business applications
