Job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and motivated individual to join our Nisku, AB team as a Oilfield PDC Drill Bit Repair Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and timely delivery of drilling tools by performing high-quality inspections, repairs, and maintenance of PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) drill bits in accordance with customer and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and repairing PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) drill bits. Duties include detailed visual and dimensional inspections, brazing, blade, pocket and body repair, hard-facing, grinding, and final finishing to meet customer and industry specifications.
  • The technician documents repair processes, maintains quality control standards, and follows all safety and operational procedures while working with specialized tools and equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve asset turnaround time, which includes reducing downtime due to maintenance, parts, failures and work-in process.
  • Participate in failure investigations as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Completed High School Diploma.
  • Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in drill bit repair is required, and brazing experience is a definite asset.
  • Candidates should be able to read technical drawings, use precision measuring instruments, and work effectively in a shop environment.
  • The position may involve standing for long periods, working extended hours, and is essential to delivering reliable, high-quality drilling tools to oilfield customers.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in Canada, without sponsorship.
