Senior Electrical Engineer

The Opportunity
Our client is a large, established provider of facility services and professional engineering solutions, supporting complex real estate portfolios across multiple regions. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Professional Services group in Toronto.
This position focuses on the design and delivery of building electrical systems across new and existing facilities, including base building systems, tenant improvements, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will operate as a senior individual contributor, while also providing technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other electrical engineers within the team.
The role offers the opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating with engineers, architects, facility teams, and CAD professionals to deliver high-quality electrical designs across a diverse project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design & Project Delivery
- Independently manage multiple concurrent electrical design projects, including : Scope definition and deliverable tracking, Coordination and oversight of CAD production, Interaction with authorities having jurisdiction
- Manage project financials, budgets, and timelines
- Develop electrical engineering designs for building systems, including : Power distribution and utility connections, Lighting and lighting controls, Emergency and backup power systems, Life safety and fire alarm systems, Renewable energy generation and energy storage systems
- Support the design of electric vehicle charging infrastructure for new and existing facilities
- Provide electrical design support for tenant fit-ups and mechanical equipment upgrades
- Carry designs from project initiation through completion, including : Equipment selection, Cost and schedule input, Technical reports and calculations, Design specifications and construction drawings
- Collaborate closely with architectural, mechanical, and facility management teams to ensure integrated and coordinated designs
Leadership & Practice Support
Provide mentorship and technical support to junior and intermediate engineersContribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes, quality control measures, and best practicesSupport the maintenance and enhancement of standard specifications, design details, and technical librariesAct as a senior technical resource for electrical engineering deliverables across the practiceQualifications & Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering and designStrong background in consulting engineering environmentsThorough knowledge of electrical codes and provincial building codesProven experience designing building and site electrical systems, including power, lighting, and life safety systemsHighly detail-oriented with strong organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environmentExperience working in multi-disciplinary teamsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and common engineering / design toolsExperience interfacing directly with clients and stakeholdersStrong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skillsBilingual proficiency (English / French) considered an assetKnowledge of building mechanical systems considered an assetEducation & Professional Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited universityProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario is requiredEngineering licensure in other provinces is considered an assetWhy This Role

The expected compensation range for this role is $90,000 – $125,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
