Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic Development and Business Supports, the Executive Director, Regional and Northern Economic Development is accountable for building relationships and partnerships with economic development organizations, business, industry and communities designed to increase market intelligence, inform strategic economic decisions by government, and foster economic resiliency. The role also provides oversight for the Northern Alberta Development Bursary.
The Executive Director fosters greater capacity, system transformation and advancement of efforts that enhance Alberta’s economic performance through building strong relationships and working in collaboration with a broad range of senior and executive stakeholders across the province, nationally, other governments, economic sector partners and the Northern Alberta Development Council.
Qualifications
As the successful candidate, you have extensive senior leadership experience in stakeholder relations and a successful track record in conflict resolution, negotiation, building consensus, shaping partnerships and agreements, and providing reasoned, informed judgement and evidence-based policy advice to inform government leadership. You offer progressive experience in economic development, management and / or experience within the public and / or private sectors. An in-depth understanding of and experience with economic development issues, sector strategy development and government processes in Alberta and other jurisdictions will be key to your success.
Throughout your career you have demonstrated the ability to pivot, re-prioritize as required and meet non-negotiable deadlines. You keep abreast of current research and leading practices to ensure that publicized issues are handled correctly according to current trends, policy and legislative requirements.
An undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. Economics, Business, law, Public Administration, Political Science). A master’s degree, Economic Developer certification and strong knowledge of the political environment of the department and the Government of Alberta are assets.
Salary
5082.46 - $6679.30 bi-weekly ($132,652 - $174,329 annually)
