The Strategic Purchasing Manager will lead the purchasing group and work collaboratively with other team members in the Company, specifically our Engineering department.  They will maintain and develop supplier relationships further who are both located locally and internationally, is also responsible to source new and existing suppliers in a way that builds a positive, safe, respectable and sustainable business for all parties; and will manage the purchasing of raw materials, equipment, components and other elements that are important the facility operating and manufacturing the products.

The successful incumbent will have experience managing an ERP system and managing the inventory control for the Company and will focus on finding efficient ways to develop systems and processes for purchase management.

The role will develop but will not move from Strategic Purchasing Manager but there is option for the role to lead a larger purchasing team as the Company grows.  This individual will ideally have experience in the signage industry and will be able to speak technically to the specifications of the industry.

T he primary responsibilities and duties include; but are not limited to :

  • Accountable for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of an efficient and effective supply chain base through the selection, qualification and ongoing management of suppliers
  • Coordinate with field supervisors for product needs and delivery scheduling
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the Company
  • Prepares cost / benefits analysis and implementation strategy, including monitoring and measurement guidelines, contingency plans
  • Identify and lead initiatives internally and externally to create new strategic Supply Chain advantages that minimizing inventory costs, improve cycle times, and control inventory
  • Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control purchasing department budget
  • Forecast product sales and demand for the purpose of defining inventory requirements for new products in accordance with lead-time considerations with the target of achieving an excellent order fill-rate
  • Negotiate with suppliers to implement contracts and business agreements where both parties work together to improve growth and profitability.
  • Evaluate and analyze purchasing trends to obtain best prices and to meet production forecasts.
  • Obtain prices for the Quoting team to allow submitting on time to OEMs.
  • Negotiate directly with customers on any issue involving a purchased component.
  • Implement and track cost reductions programs to meet the company yearly objectives.
  • Manage and collaborate with Operations teams.
  • Coordinate and attend on-site supplier visits and audits.
  • Build a sustainable procurement strategy that meets Exo-s business best practices for materials and goods, in a responsible and ethical way.
  • Provide guidance and assist logistics and engineering teams to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Participate actively in the negotiation of any capitalisation request.
  • Review and negotiate various services contracts for the entire company.
  • Develop and maintain tools for performing the detailed purchasing functions (e.g. quoting guide, ABC contract review, etc.).
  • Negotiate transportation agreements with different carriers on a yearly basis and on demand (TL, LTL, package).
  • Understand custom duties rules and requirements to minimize cost and improve on-time delivery (OTD) when crossing border.
  • Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies
  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services
  • Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
  • Review and process claims against suppliers
  • Interview, hire and oversee training and managing of staff.
