Overview
The role of the Account Manager is to provide partnership to the Senior Vice-President, Commercial Sales in the servicing, retention and growth of a group of Real Estate clients. Position also liaises with insurance companies resulting in maintaining and exceeding the service standards of Arthur J. Gallagher. In addition, an Account Manager will participate in client facing meetings, insurer negotiations and promotion of existing and additional products and services. Business analysis and reporting in addition to assuming various projects to support the achievement of the departmental goals and objectives is also a function of this role.
How you'll make an impact
- Markets all New business and renewals (that require re-marketing)
- Predominantly focused on supporting a Real Estate portfolio.
- Binds accounts / coverages with insurer
- Negotiate terms / conditions with company, prepares binders and sends to client and insurer to request issuance of policy
- Meet with or discuss with client any additional underwriting information necessary for placement of new business and / or renewals
- Provide confirmation to the insurance company of the client's acceptance of renewal rates
- At the discretion of the SVP, Commercial Insurance, handle renewal negotiations with insurers based on complexity and / or expertise
- Provide detailed summary of terms and pricing negotiated with recommendations for additional coverages and placement of all accounts handled
- At the direction of the SVP, Commercial Insurance, attend client meetings to gather renewal information and participate in renewal negotiation / presentation meetings either in conjunction with SVP or on their own
- At the discretion of the SVP, Commercial Insurance, attend conferences to aid in retention and new business opportunities of various programs
- Working with the SVP, Commercial Insurance, develop and implement new business and program opportunities
- Maintain professional relationships with key insurers to ensure maximization of new business growth and retention opportunities
- Collaborate with sales and operations to provide guidance and technical resources in the preparation and response of qualified RFP's as required.
- Attend appropriate industry functions.

About you
Minimum of 8 years relevant insurance industry experiencePrevious experience supporting a Real Estate portfolio requiredRIBO license requiredCIP, FCIP, CRM, or CAIB an assetClient service and / or advocacy experience an assetConsistently demonstrated ability to handle marketing of complex accounts, including negotiation of all accounts in portfolioThorough knowledge of professional liability with a demonstrated willingness to learn other linesAbility and willingness to handle many aspects of the SVP, Commercial Insurance client facing duties in his / her absenceConsistently demonstrated ability to work on own initiative including suggestion and implementation of efficiencies to increase productivity of teamConsistently demonstrated commitment to promotion of new business sales within teamExceptional judgement skills demonstrated by clear decision making abilities in absence of SVP, Commercial InsuranceConsistently demonstrated ability and willingness to train more junior staff membersStrong analytical, organization and time management skillsExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsStrong team player - ability to adapt to, and work cooperatively with, various individualsStrong analytical, organization and time management skillsSelf-starter with high level of initiativeProactive in identifying opportunities and developing solutionsCreative / out of the box thinkingAbility to work well under pressure with minimum supervision in a team environmentExceptional computer and technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft office productsAble to adapt quickly to changeDemonstrated ability to re-prioritize as requiredAbility to identify and analyze client risk exposuresAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentCompensation and benefits
