We are seeking a Violence Prevention and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator who is passionate about walking alongside self-identified women as they rebuild their lives and step in the direction of a thriving life. Grounded in trauma- and culturally-informed, feminist, harm-reduction, and equity-seeking frameworks, the role supports women in the Downtown East Side and throughout the Lower Mainland through violence prevention and family support programs, and provides meaningful volunteer opportunities and pre-employment training and coaching as they grow in capacity and confidence.
What you’ll be doing
Program Coordination and Engagement : Facilitate the Violence Prevention program by providing intake, risk assessment and safety planning, one-to-one support, coaching, and referrals; Facilitate the Volunteer Program by recruitment, onboarding, training, managing, and supporting volunteers
Volunteer and Student Supervision : Recruit, hire, supervise, and mentor volunteers and occasional practicum students; provide ongoing support, performance feedback, and recognition
Community Building : Develop strong connections with participants, volunteers, donors, colleagues, other YWCA departments, and community partners; foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
Recognition & Growth : Celebrate contributions of volunteers and participants through annual and other events; provide employment referrals to volunteers as they take their next steps
Administration & Compliance : Maintain program records and ensure adherence to standards and safety requirements; write regular board and annual reports
Teaching and Group Facilitation : Deliver violence prevention curriculum (online and / or in person) and offer small group or one-on-one discussion opportunities

What you’ll need :
Demonstrated experience in teaching and group facilitation
Experience managing, hiring, training, and supervising volunteers and / or practicum students
Knowledge of intimate partner and family violence, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, and equity-seeking / feminist approaches
Understanding of the systemic and intersectional barriers faced by marginalized single mothers, including poverty, colonization, racism, and ableism
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to build trust and relationships across diverse groups
Community development and advocacy experience
Excellent organizational and administrative skills; able to manage multiple priorities
Flexibility, creativity, and commitment to supporting women toward their goals and dreams
Valid clear criminal record check (including vulnerable sector).
