Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Automotive Mechanic supports the Equipment Division and field operations by maintaining and repairing equipment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring equipment operates at maximum reliability and functionality. The mechanic plays a key role in minimizing downtime and contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of operations.

How You’ll Add Value

  • Identify faults and use testing equipment to diagnose malfunctions, determining the extent of repair.
  • Test machinery for proper functioning and conduct other routine maintenance work.
  • Service attachments and working tools.
  • Plan repair procedures using charts manuals and experience.
  • Test the functionality of parts and systems.
  • Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation.
  • Repair and replace brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors, and other parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles.
  • Road test and inspect vehicle engine and mechanical / electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Perform automotive repairs including front-end, engine repair, tune-ups, brake systems, transmission, oil changes.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following :

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Operator’s License; with clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.
  • Heavy Civil Construction or labor experience is an asset
  • Expert abilities in all aspects of equipment repair and maintenance.​
  • Physically able to perform duties (, lift to 50-100 lbs.).
  • Basic writing skills. Basic hand tool skills.
  • Computer experience, as it relates to documentation and equipment diagnostic systems.
  • Ability to work independently as a problem-solver and to professionally represent the company.
