Job description

We are looking for a dedicated Collections Specialist to join our team in Markham, Ontario. In this long-term contract role, you will play a crucial part in managing customer accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and maintaining positive relationships with clients in the utilities and infrastructure sector. The position offers an opportunity to work both in-office and remotely after an initial training period.

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct outreach to residential and commercial customers to verify billing information and ensure payment compliance.
  • Manage and update customer accounts to reflect accurate information and payment statuses.
  • Utilize accounting software systems to generate and attach reports to customer profiles.
  • Handle inbound calls professionally, providing clear and helpful information regarding billing and account inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline processes.
  • Analyze and interpret data from various systems to identify outstanding payments and address issues effectively.
  • Support claim administration processes to ensure timely resolution and adherence to company standards.
  • Navigate complex customer scenarios, including franchise and corporate-owned accounts, to verify payment responsibility.
  • Assist in simplifying invoice processes for better customer understanding and compliance.
  • Maintain detailed records of interactions and account updates to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • At least 1 year of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems and Epic Software.
  • Strong understanding of billing functions and collection processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to handle inbound calls effectively.
  • Experience with claim administration and resolving account discrepancies.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate accurate reports.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
