Part Time Program Instructor, 55+ Programs and Events (Seasonal Programs)
The Program Instructor is accountable for planning and implementation of safe and enjoyable programming for older adults and seniors.
Key Duties
- Supports the delivery of programming needs in accordance with the scope of the program plan.
- Follows up with customers on a timely basis, assisting with programming registration.
- Provides an individualized approach that assists with the mastery of skills and development within the programs and specialized events such as Seniors Month.
- Works cooperatively and maintains ongoing and effective communication with participants, and the Community Recreation Coordinator.
- Ensures that the necessary equipment and supplies are available, and that such equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition.
- Takes appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems and emergencies, as outlined in the departmental policies and procedures.
- Creates an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience.
- Creates an environment where participants strive to participate fully, perform the best of their ability, and learn new skills.
- Performs administrative tasks necessary to support the program.
Qualifications / Skills
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.Minimum 1 year of facilitating recreation programs for older adults / seniors and / or leadership skills and a combination of training, education, and experience deemed equivalent.Minimum 2-3 years of advanced skills / experience relevant to program planning for general interest 55+ programming, acquired through multiple years of participation and lessons relevant in working with this age demographic.Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreation programs and services.Experience working with older adults / seniors in a recreational setting.Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR-C certification.Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months).Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.What is Offered to Staff
Rate of Pay : $22.97 - $24.97 per hour.Hours of Work : This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week.
