POSITION OVERVIEW :

HongDe (Virtue) Elementary School is a BC Ministry of Education certified Not-For-Profit Independent School offering a Mandarin / English bilingual program. Throughout K-6 grades, 40% of the curriculum will be taught in Chinese (Mandarin), and the other 60% will be taught in English. The curriculum taught in Mandarin includes Chinese Language Arts, Arts Education (Dance, Music, Visual Arts, and Drama), Physical Education, and Health Education.

Applicants must :

• possess a current teacher certificate (COQ or SR / SSR) for Mandarin or Art Education (music / dance / drama) from the BC Teacher Certification Branch
• has a Master of Education degree in Canada (preferred)
• be prepared to use traditional and simplified characters, as well as zhuyin and pinyin romanization systems, to teach students
• be willing to work in a collaborative / team environment to implement the BC Curriculum
• be prepared to use technology
• Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
• The ability to endorse the school’s mission and vision statement
