Development Coordinator

Real Estate Development

Multifamily Residential & Commercial

Victoria, BC

70,000 - $90,000

Our client, an established, Victoria based Real Estate Developer is looking for a Development Coordinator to join their growing business. The Development Coordinator will support the project cycle on new and existing projects. This position is the outfacing position of our team, responsible for in-person discussions with neighbours, clients, and municipal representatives.

Development Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Coordinating public consultation events and neighborhood engagement
  • Assisting in preparation of presentations
  • Issuing RFPs, summarizing submissions and notifying consultants of outcomes
  • Assisting with managing project consultants and contractors through design, development and construction (coordinate drawing and specifications to project consultants, sales and marketing team, trades and construction team)
  • Managing electronic and hard copy files and project sites
  • Conducting general research and market analysis
  • Updating social media sites and providing project updates to clients
  • Assisting with client change requests, deficiency walk-throughs, client hand-over
  • Assisting in applying for and obtaining development permits and other municipal approvals
  • Assisting in due diligence work and analysis for potential projects or properties
  • Assisting with advertising and organizing rental properties for development properties
  • Assisting with preparation of consultant agreements, purchase orders, change orders and internal commitments
  • Assisting with preparation of Trade Contractor agreements, change orders, and invoicing
  • Assisting in maintaining Project Management System for construction documentation
  • Completing general construction site progress reviews when necessary
  • Assisting with completion of meeting minutes when necessary
  • Assisting with client walk-ins and reception when necessary

Senior Development Coordinator Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Planning, Real Estate, Urban Land Economics, Economics or Architecture;
  • 1-3 years of experience in real estate development and preferably in the Victoria multi-residential market;
  • Knowledge of real estate property legal principles such as legal title, title defects, conveyance of title, easements, zoning, and other land use regulations;
  • Analytical background and familiarity with real estate development proformas;
  • Highly organized and detailed self-starter with a passion for real estate and a keen interest in learning the development business;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel applications;
  • Excellent understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work effectively under pressure within a fast-pasted team environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required
  • Natural problem solver that can creatively devise solutions and provide tactical implementation;
  • Established network of contacts within the municipal, consultant and development communities an asset
