Overview

The committee of Newmarket On Fergus Community Centre is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Governance. This role can be done from home with an expectation to attend 2–3 meetings per year in Newmarket.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Board of Directors on the requirements of the Governance Code.
• Ensure the Board of the Community Centre adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures in line with governance.
• Review the existing policies for the board and recommend changes.
• Audit compliance with the board's policies and report findings to the board.
• Make recommendations for board member training on compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Background in company compliance.
• Attendance of relevant training on Governance.
• Fluency in English.
• Good communication skills (oral & written).
• Ability to give advice to the board and make recommendations in line with governance.

Commitment

Minimum time commitment: 1 year
Hours required: 2 hours per week, 2–3 meetings per year.
