The Role :
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Design Lead with 10+ years of experience working in Ontario to join our team. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from our office or from home.
We welcome applicants from anywhere within Ontario who meet the experience criteria. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all drawing packages before they are finalized and leave the office, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
This individual will also play a pivotal role in mentoring and coaching junior staff members, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and a deep understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) are critical for this role.
Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with the Design Manager to prepare and review conceptual design drawings.
- Oversee and ensure the quality and accuracy of architectural plans and amendments, using Autodesk Revit software.
- Manage the production of detailed drawing packages from preliminary concepts, including technical drafting and specifications.
- Prepare and facilitate schematic plans, designs, and construction drawings for architectural projects, leveraging expertise in building science and the OBC.
- Coordinate with builders during the construction phase to maintain design integrity and compliance.
- Supervise, coach, and guide junior staff, fostering skill development and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Review and annotate construction drawings to ensure precision and compliance.
Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience as an Architectural Technologist, with proven application of OBC standards.
- Diploma in Architectural Technology.
- BCIN certification (Legal + House or higher) is a strong advantage.
- High proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Bluebeam.
- In-depth understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), architectural standards, and building science.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
Compensation & Hours :
- Competitive salary based on experience.
