Travel to Office expectations

For Remote Roles : If this role is remote, there will be in-office events that require travel to and from the Mississauga and / or Salt Lake City offices. These will include onboarding, team events, and semi-annual and annual team meetings.

For Hybrid Roles : If this role is Hybrid, there is an expectation to reside within commutable distance to the specified office / location. This will include weekly / bi-weekly / monthly events in the office with your team. This is a requirement for this role.

Position

PointClickCare is searching for a Principal Software Engineer who will contribute to best-practice application development by writing and defending production-grade code on a regular basis, while encouraging and optimizing daily technical excellence across an empowered Scrum team. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring the ability to design and implement features from the ground up while mentoring other team members and delivering business and technical objectives through ambiguity.

To succeed as a Principal Software Engineer, you should be collaborative, adventurous, and passionate. You should be ready to jump in to help the team achieve top priorities, be willing to explore uncharted technical territory, and support delivery of complex features through a dedicated Scrum team. You should be eager to learn and share knowledge that drives the team forward and be excited to impact the lives of seniors and their caregivers across North America.

Day-to-day

• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Work with business to iterate over software requirements
• Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
• Analyze and debug systems
• Perform validation and verification testing in a test-driven manner
• Review the work of others and invite reviews
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies

What Qualifications We’re Looking For

Generative AI Code Assistants : Use of Generative AI Code Assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot) is a must and working knowledge of spec-driven development. Daily application of the latest Generative AI Model capabilities is expected.
