The Nitty Gritty :

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) will take ownership of product specifications and work alongside engineering leaders to ensure successful project execution.

The TPM will manage the planning, coordination, and delivery of our development projects, working closely with engineering, production, and design teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and experience in the gaming industry.

This role is an integral part of the engineering department. You will work with both the core services and game teams, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities :

Product Planning and Coordination :

  • Take ownership of product specifications, ensuring they are clearly defined and aligned with business goals.
  • Define product scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, and assess risk management.
  • Ensure alignment between product vision and engineering execution.

Specification and Documentation :

  • Collaborate with production and design teams to gather and document comprehensive product requirements and technical specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date product documentation, including plans, status reports, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that documentation is clear, detailed, and facilitates seamless execution and quality delivery.

Quality and Performance :

  • Implement best practices in project management to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards and are tested thoroughly before release.

Risk Management :

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project impact.
  • Proactively address issues and obstacles that may affect project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the gaming industry.
  • Proven track record of contributing to the management of complex technical projects from inception to completion, demonstrating a significant positive impact on project outcomes.
  • Has built and owned end-to-end roadmaps for game and / or core-platform technologies, preferably in the gaming industry.

Skills and Competencies :

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.
  • Strong technical background, with experience in software development and familiarity with game development processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive collaborative success.
  • Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to anticipate and address challenges proactively, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice to haves :

  • Experience with Unity or other game development engines.
  • Knowledge of Jira or other project management tools.
  • PMP or other relevant project management certifications.
