Job Overview
Join as a Structural Engineer for an advanced airport project in Mississauga. The role is on‑site, on a full‑time basis.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice during planning, design, and execution, ensuring compliance with all relevant structural codes.
- Validate structural design and construction through reviews, submittal assessments, and testing.
- Conduct Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) compliance reviews for renovations, alterations, maintenance work, and new construction.
- Perform field inspections on construction stages as non‑resident engineering expertise.
- Evaluate alternative technical proposals submitted by contractors, assessing feasibility.
- Manage technical aspects of civil and structural engineering, setting targets and goals.
- Coordinate between engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
- Review contractor and designer deliverables for compliance with codes and project requirements.
- Monitor designer input throughout construction, overseeing RFIs, shop drawings, material approvals, mock‑ups, and punch lists.
- Provide management‑level progress reports and briefings on structural design.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in civil/structural engineering.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in structural design, construction, and commissioning of major capital developments including airport facilities.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
Preferred Requirements
- Extensive experience assessing existing structures and leading major structural retrofit projects.
- Proven expertise applying Canadian structural design codes and standards.
- Proficiency in 3D structural analysis, modeling, and design software.
- Strong background in designing and restoring structures using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, MicroStation, BIM, and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of asset management principles for structural systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Additional Information
This position requires on‑site work 5 days a week.
