Compensation : $27.92 - $29.60 per hour
Job Summary : The Program Assistant supports daily operations, provides physical, emotional, and social support to clients, assists with life skills, medication, social activities, and maintains a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide feedback on clients’ needs and progress.
- Assist clients with life skills (hygiene, housekeeping, meal planning, finances, appointments).
- Administer medication and reminders.
- Participate in client-focused social and recreational activities.
- Identify community resources and provide related information.
- Assist with activities of daily living (feeding, transfers, grooming).
- Accompany clients on outings.
- Maintain records, statistics, progress reports, and logs.
- Respond to client feedback, inquiries, and complaints.
- Perform housekeeping duties (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting).
- Debrief with incoming shifts for information transfer.
- Support a safe, well‑maintained building environment.
- Conduct regular facility rounds.
- Direct volunteers as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Grade 12.Certificate in Community Social Service.1 year of experience with marginalized populations, substance use, mental health, or corrections.Completed criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening.Completed Tuberculosis Screening form.
Completed Employee Immunization Record form.First Aid and current CPR certification.Skills & Knowledge
Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems.Ability to use standard office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, printer, security system).Integrity, dependability, and results‑orientation.Problem‑solving, analytical, and creative skills.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.Commitment to the social sector and organisational mission.Competencies
