What role you will play in our team
As a site Maintenance Electrician term employee at Imperial Oil Sarnia Site, you will maintain, install, troubleshoot and repair all types of electrical, electronic, control and power systems equipment with a high personal regard for safety, following verbal and / or written orders from support site operations.
What you will do
- Lockout of all low, medium and high voltage equipment, as required
- Critical electrical switching required to provide an electrically safe work condition
- Switchgear and power circuit breaker maintenance, single phase or three phase, up to 230kV
- Oil-filled power transformer preventative maintenance 500KVA – 100MVA
- Oil-filled circuit breaker preventative maintenance
- Protective relay setting, programming and testing (electromechanical & microprocessor)
- Substation preventative maintenance
- Motor controls troubleshooting, commissioning & repairs
- PLC maintenance and programming
- VFD – installation, programming and troubleshooting
- UPS – general maintenance PM’s and troubleshooting
- Electric heat tracing installation and maintenance
- DC batteries & chargers – installation, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Electrical transfer switches & schemes – installation, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Installation of electrical cabling / wiring, as required
- Commissioning and calibration of electrical protection systems
- Start‑up and commissioning of electrical capital projects
- Develop and write electrical switching and maintenance procedures
- Update & markup ‘As‑Built’ electrical drawings
Skills and Qualifications
Industrial Controls Engineering Technologist (ICET) or Electrical Engineering Technologist / Technician diploma is preferred, but an equivalent combination of training and experience is also acceptableHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.Preferred Qualifications / Experience
5 years or greater related experience in a similar positionCertified 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician and / or 442A Industrial Electrician is considered an assetMust maintain a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s licenseRelevant industry experience is an assetAble to read and interpret electrical single line drawings, protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay logic, PLC logic diagrams, etcAble to estimate, plan and execute workCapable of providing supervision of other employees and contractorsAble to perform troubleshooting and solve problems in the fieldKnowledgeable on relevant safety procedures, practices, codes and legislation and is conversant with rights and obligations under the OHSA regulationsWorking knowledge of CSA‑Z462 standard on electrical safe work practices is an asset.Familiar with wiring installation requirements for electrical hazardous locationsGood working knowledge of Windows based programs and softwareExperience using electrical test equipment such as the Baker AWA, Doble or equivalent relay test equipment, transformer test equipment, Vanguard breaker timing tester, Megger insulation resistance testing, DLRO (Ductor) contact resistance test equipment, multimeter, voltage / potential testers and indicators, clamp‑on ammeter, etc.Start date
