The Chief Officer is the second in command and is responsible to the Commanding Officer for the general work, cleanliness and good order of the ship except that which is the responsibility of the Chief Engineer or the Logistics Officer.

- OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION : Valid Transport Canada STCW Watch Keeping Mate Near Coastal Certificate or higher (SO-MAO-03 / 05), Valid Transport Canada STCW Chief Mate, Near Coastal Certificate (over 3000GT) or higher (SO-MAO-06 / 07), Valid Transport Canada STCW Master, Near Coastal Certificate or higher (SO-MAO-08)
