About the Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Manager of Payroll, the Payroll Advisor is one of the team members responsible for providing and maintaining a timely, accurate and efficient payroll service for Nova Scotia Health.  Staff in Payroll will use SAP, HRIS, Time Capture, Windows and Excel.

Representative duties include :

  • Field inquiries from departmental directors and payroll delegates with respect to employee remuneration and benefit banks
  • Respond to or investigate employee inquiries or complaints in relation to payroll information
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Prepare and process off cycle payments
  • Other related duties

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Completion of two-year accounting program, plus two years' relevant experience or one year completed certified payroll program from the Canadian Payroll Association with 3 years' relevant experience required (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Customer Service focused approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills including SAP, MS Windows, Excel spreadsheet applications and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Working experience in HRIS and Time Capture is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to think critically.
  • Ability to work independently, with continual interruptions, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good judgment skills to know when to resolve issues within policy guidelines and when to refer
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

    Hours

    Short assignment, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

    Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of Sept 28, 2025 (Approximately 9 months)

    29.91 - $37.38 Hourly
