Job description

Visual Lead & Merchandising – Retail Operations

Position Purpose :

As a Visual and Merchandising Lead, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing displays that enhance the customer experience and drive sales. Reporting to the CX Manager – Visual Merchandising, you will use your creative vision to showcase products in an attractive and engaging manner that adheres to company and brand standards and align with operational objectives. Your objective is to leverage sales driven data to create aesthetically pleasing environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain merchandising standards that adhere with company and brand standards
  • Consider flyer and with collaboration and direction for management, identify how to create engaging displays
  • Design and implement effective bulk display setups for promotional items to maximize visibility and customer engagement
  • Identify opportunities to leverage end cap displays to create assets that align with sales objectives and flyer focus.
  • Ensure that gondolas are maintained and appear visually appealing. Confirm that products are accurately placed, labelled, priced and stocked.
  • Ensure that product demonstrations are engaging, approachable, tell as story and that they are in good working order.
  • Use the planogram management software to ensure adherence to standards, consistently from store to store and ensure that updates are being completed in a timely manner, including display changes.
  • Ensure all price is accurate based on current sales, events and that all products are properly labeled with pricing and price labels adhering to brand standards.
  • Ensure the electronic pricing labels are updated in a timely manner and displaying correctly and with accurate prices
  • Highlight areas of high product turnover, identify secondary plans if required and ensure that product is adequately stocked and available.
  • Consider asset protection / loss prevention in placement, identifying and communicating areas of risk and minimizing opportunity wherever possible.
  • Review sales, analyze areas of opportunity as well as areas of high performance, considering how visual displays can enhance customer engagement, increasing sales performance.
  • Oversee and ensure adequate and correct use and maintenance of vendor stocking aides such as hooks, clamps, price label holders etc.
  • Marketing
  • Work with marketing and showroom team, proactively identifying required signage and creating signs as required.
  • Proactively identify upcoming events and sales to ensure that displays are aligned to marketing strategy, flyers and campaigns
  • During vendor focused events, identify the relocation of select product to promote the event, create visual appealing displays and ensure accurate signage
  • Retail Operations
  • Working with the retail operations team, ensure that receiving, and shipping to DC is completed in a timely manner
  • Support the Retail Operations team with merchandising and other day to day activities
  • Assist with Purchase Order and Product Transfer Order management, ensuring accurate and timely processing
  • Acting as a member of the leadership team, support and direct duties of retail operations team ensuring alignment with visual direction.
  • Communicate upcoming plans, processes, sales plans and any changes to floor design with the retail operations team to create clear expectations and transparent communication.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in visual merchandising, marketing or a related field
  • 3-5 years in a visual merchandising or related role, preferably in a retail environment
  • Strong creative skills with an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative mindset, ability to think imaginatively, forward thinking and exploratory approach to a challenge or problem
