How You Will Make an Impact
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of hospitality availability responsibility adaptability quality and dignity with a demonstrated knowledge of issues related to poverty homelessness mental illness substance use / addictions and developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellent communication skills
- Responsibilities will include direct client contact in all aspects of service necessary for the comfort and safety of individuals accessing shelter services
- Ability to carry own caseload and work within a client-centered perspective
- Possess a working knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence trauma homelessness mental health and substance use
- Work from a trauma-informed anti-racist anti-oppressive and feminist framework
- Experience supporting the development of personalized counseling plans and maintaining a caseload is required
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
What Youll Bring to Our Team
A post-secondary education in a social service / related field or lived experience working with vulnerable individualsGood knowledge of social service agencies and community resourcesHave a strong understanding of harm reduction principlesMust have excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal skills good organization skills and ability to prioritize case workloadResidential caseload experience preferredA valid C.P.R. certificationExcellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skillsComputer literacy including Word ExcelCommitted to anti-racist / anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good ShepherdFluency in a language in addition to English is an assetWhat We Offer
