Job description

DEFINITION :

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position reviews subdivision, developments and long term infrastructure planning to ensure consistency and sustainability of City infrastructure.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :

  • Assist in the review of subdivision / development engineering referrals, designs and drawings;
  • Inspection of development project construction;
  • Assist in the preparation of short and long-term plans to ensure integrity of the City's infrastructure. Including the commissioning of related studies, reports, and master plans;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Multi-Modal transportation plans and initiatives;
  • Liaises with third party stakeholders and utilities in the development of plans;
  • Prepare reports to Council as required;
  • Collaborate with other Engineering staff as required;
  • Assist in the preparation of financial capital plans;
  • Answer and respond to public enquiries or complaints;
  • Other duties, as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Two-year technical school diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering;
  • Minimum three years' related experience. Municipal experience is an asset;
  • Ability to prepare and interpret and apply blueprints, drawings, specifications, standards and regulations;
  • A strong working knowledge of Engineering design principals and standards;
  • Ability to maintain clear, complete, and organized field notes, inspection reports, review notes, and record drawings;
  • Experience with computer modelling, and spreadsheets;
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word);
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to independently prioritize tasks and assignments;
  • Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, contractors and the public in a professional manner;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence;
