Job Description
Our client, Sundher Orchards is a family-owned, long-established grower in British Columbia’s renowned cherry industry. With a commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable farming practices, the organization continues to evolve and expand its operations. As a result, we are proud to lead the search for a Financial Controller who can bring structure, consistency, and strong financial reporting to their organization and take a lead role in overseeing the timely and accurate delivery of all financial reporting commitments to the bank. As the successful candidate, you will manage vendor relationships, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the financial discipline and processes required are in place to set the organization up for long-term success. This role also oversees and mentors the internal bookkeeper and works closely with our external accountants at Doane Grant Thornton.
This newly created role offers a unique rhythm : the work is fast-paced from May through September, followed by a slower winter season that can support reduced hours and increased flexibility. This makes the position ideal for someone who enjoys a varied workload and autonomy while still operating at a senior level.
In addition to core financial leadership, the Controller will oversee key agricultural financial functions, including crop costing, seasonal labour forecasting, inventory valuation, capital asset management, and financial reporting aligned with the unique operational cycles of orchard production.
