Cost Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support refinery operations with budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will bring strong cost accounting experience, proficiency with ERP systems, and the ability to collaborate across finance and operations teams.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

• Support operations and finance teams with cost analysis and reporting using Power BI, AX Dynamics, and Maximo
• Prepare monthly budget, actuals, and forecast variance analysis for operating and capital costs
• Develop and standardize budget input forms for Operations Management
• Consolidate and prepare budget materials ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Analyze operational metrics and recommend improvements for accuracy
• Create scorecards aligned with departmental objectives
• Prepare journal entries for accruals and corrections
• Provide application support for Maximo reporting
• Create and track AFEs for capital and non-capital projects and monitor costs by work order
• Mentor Accounts Payable and junior accounting team members
• Perform other duties as assigned
