Mechanical Estimator

PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. is Western Canadas leading company for plumbing heating ventilation air conditioning and fire protection. From major construction projects to regular service work to the safety provided by our fire protection division we approach our work with an industry-leading commitment to excellence and a keen awareness of our customers business needs.

We are seeking an Estimator to join our team at our Head Office located in Coquitlam BC. The Estimator will analyze and prepare estimates on a wide variety of construction projects. Accurately estimate the direct and indirect competitive costs of compiling a project within a scheduled timeline. And to provide material and labour costs for change orders on projects currently awarded to PML.

The goal is to provide the company with accurate information that will help in operations and strategic planning. Acquiring an understanding of the requirements of the project / program at hand and select metrics to produce valid estimates. Visit sites warehouses and other venues to gather essential information.

Responsibilities :

Prepare estimates of accurate costs of materials labour and equipment and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract documents quotations schematic drawings and specifications.

To carry out estimating for Mechanical projects internal and external clients.

Provide assistance to the Design Build team as required.

Maintain and build relationships with clients and sub-trades.

Provide material and labour take offs for SIs on projects currently underway by PML.

Prepares construction budget by studying plans updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.

Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.

Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.

Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Prepares special reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends.

Maintains quality service by following organization standards.

Maintains continuity among corporate division and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions irregularities and continuing needs.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications :

3-5 years of estimating work experience in the mechanical contracting industry.

QuickPen AutoBid Mechanical Estimating software

Computer proficiency in MS Office applications in particular MS Project MS Excel MS Outlook along with ability to quickly learn new applications.

Ability to read and interpret plans and technical specifications.

Ability to manage vendor relationships and performance.

Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations.

Able to interact and communicate effectively both written and oral.

Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.

Ability to multitask and prioritize.
