Billing Administrator

EnerFORGE is a subsidiary of Oshawa Power & Utilities Corporation, and affiliate to the local hydro-electric distribution company that supplies electricity to 63,000 customers in the city of Oshawa. EnerFORGE is a company that focuses on developing, operating and improving district energy systems and renewable generation assets, as well as providing utility advisory services. EnerFORGE’s main office is located just 45 minutes east of Toronto in the city of Oshawa, which serves as the economic engine for the Durham Region. Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Customer Service & Billing, the Billing Administrator will be responsible for executing and monitoring the billing process, processing payments, and assisting with financial reporting. You will work closely with customer services and accounting teams to process and track payments, resolve discrepancies, and maintain billing records.

As the successful applicant, you will have the opportunity to be involved with :

  • Perform quality control on and execute billing batches for the utility;
  • Process, file, track, and reconcile customer payments;
  • Initiate the process adjustments to customer accounts;
  • Verify the accuracy of billing information, including rates and services;
  • Resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner;
  • Interact directly with customers to address various billing-related enquiries and issues;
  • Prepare and review periodic financial reports;
  • Respond to billing inquiries with a high level of professionalism and tact;
  • Administer the collection process for overdue accounts;
  • Adhere to all OEB requirements;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Have To Offer

  • A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in billing roles;
  • Strong knowledge of utility billing practices;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Flexibility to respond to frequently changing priorities;
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated understanding of full billing cycles and processes;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion;
  • Ability to work with and present to varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners;
  • Must have valid ‘G’ driving license in the province of Ontario;
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a business / technical field or related experience is considered an asset.
