Job Description
Pertinent Information : Excellent opportunity for someone with a couple of years of estimating experience. Position is 100% in-person – no hybrid or work from home available. Full details to be provided at time of interview.
Wage : $60,000 – $75,000 / year + comprehensive benefits package.
Location : Kingsville, ON.
The Estimator is responsible for developing product takeoffs and cost estimates as required by client’s documents / specifications.
Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to :
- Identify, mark, takeoff and estimate products of interest to company from contract documents, including all revisions / addendums.
- Maintain accuracy of takeoffs, estimates, and quotations of products through self review of project specifications, material and labour items as well as the final quotation itself.
- Forward requests for information (RFI’s) as required to customers and / or owners for items that are not clear but could affect overall cost.
- Interact with supervisors and other departments (Engineering, Operations) on unusual products to ensure all cost factors have been accounted for and that customer schedules can be met.
- Contact suppliers to obtain pricing for materials and review quotations for accuracy.
- Enter cost and selling totals in database for tracking.
- Where pre-determined standards are not available, responsible to provide reasonable estimate.
- Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or database.
- Create initial layouts in CAD for customer review
- Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
- Pursue supervisory review of large estimates
- Review and update resource information (standard drawings / specifications, checklists and notes) to ensure items that impact cost are up to date.
- Maintain adequate lead time on takeoff / estimate preparation.
- Sort and file plans and specifications for long term storage
- Prepare post fabrication cost analysis, especially for those projects that have been identified as going over estimate, by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the fabrication of items.
