Fire Assay Assistant

Responsibilities
- Crucible management and set up / prepare samples for fusion.
- Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools.
- Ensure safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules.
- Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Familiarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finish methods.Strong analytical and mechanical skills.Organized and highly motivated.Detail‑oriented.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time‑critical issues.Basic English communication skills.Safety oriented.Required Qualifications
High school education (mandatory).Diploma or degree in science (preferred).Laboratory experience in a production‑oriented environment is an asset.Physical Demands
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.Able to work within a hot and dusty environment.Must comply with H&S requirements such as being clean‑shaven for respirator use, wearing issued PPE, showering after each shift, undergoing a lead blood test every six months, standing for a full shift, sitting at a desk for general office work, and possessing manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.Able to work day, afternoon, and graveyard shifts, including weekends; ALS operates 24 / 7.Benefits
