Part-time Academic Program Technologist
Department : Design and Visual ArtsCampus : BarrieClassification : Support StaffHourly Pay Range : $21.77 - $30.78 Hours per week : Up to 24 hours per week (current hours anticipated to be 24 hours per week)Status : Part-time (Regular)Posting Date : September 6, 2024 Reporting to the Dean, School of Design and Visual Arts, the incumbent supports the academic programs in the School of Design and Visual Arts by providing technical support to students and faculty.
The incumbent demonstrates and monitors Digital Photography and Imagining students’ safe and efficient use of equipment I the Digital Photography Studio.
The incumbent is also responsible to ensure that the Digital Photography Studio functions on a day-today basis as well as maintaining an yearly schedule of studio maintenance.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to :
- Organizes daily equipment reservations and sign-outs of equipment loans.
- Assists faculty in planning, organizing, preparing and performing demonstrations.
- Demonstrates, models and oversees safe use of photography, video and other downtown studio equipment and ensures properly safely protocols are followed
- Provides technical advice to students and faculty regarding proper use of equipment
- Helps students in selecting best practices, modeling and reinforcing correct application of those practices to achieve desired result.
- Troubleshoots and responds to students’ questions in the studio setting. Qualifications :
- Successfully completed a two-year postsecondary diploma in Digital Media or a relevant field of study.
- A minimum of two-years’ experience with areas such as photography, video and digital media.
- Experience training and demonstrating skills to others
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
- Computer skills and experience using the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the internet
- Communication and interpersonal skills to provide clear concise information
- Must be self-directed with the ability to work independently and as a team member
- Demonstrated planning, coordinating and time management skills
- Proven analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills
