Job Description

Amix is looking for a skilled and experienced individual to fulfill an exciting, fast paced position as the Marine Projects Manager (MPM).

Reporting to the Director, Marine Projects, the MPM will be responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects including but not limited to assisting in identifying marine project opportunities, developing initial project and financial plans, and successfully leading the Marine Projects Team in the completion of these projects, up to and including client handover.

As a family-owned company founded in in the scrap metal recycling industry, Amix has since expanded into a wide range of services, including marine salvage, marine projects, marine towing and barging, concrete sales and steel distribution.

The Amix Group consists of six companies providing specialized and quality service. These companies include Amix Recycling, Amix Marine Projects, Amix Marine Services, Amix Marine Salvage, Western Concrete, and Amix Steel and Surplus.

Overview :

This position will be involved with and responsible for a large project based near Squamish, BC. The successful candidate will be required to be on location for five days per week.

Accommodation will be provided by the company.

Responsibilities :

The Marine Project Manager will be responsible for the following :

  • Lead and manage marine construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders, and obtain necessary approvals and permits.

This would include developing optimized solutions for customer requirements.

  • Coordinate and oversee project teams, including subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff, to ensure efficient project execution and compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Prepare and present project reports, presentations, and other documentation to management and stakeholders, highlighting key accomplishments, milestones, and areas for improvement.
  • Manage project finances, including budget tracking, cost control, and invoice processing, to ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and excellence within project teams, promoting adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Lead the team in a respectful and safe manner while managing the day-to-day activity and efficiency for the Marine Projects Team

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field experience.
  • 3 to 5 years in proven Project Management experience in the marine construction industry with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget
  • PMP certification or similar is considered an asset.
  • Marine projects, marine engineering and / or marine experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on and around cranes and barges.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire project teams to achieve project goals and objectives Current Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices in marine construction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices in marine construction. Ability to read engineering drawings.
