What are we looking for

The Group Finance Director will have 3 key areas of focus :

  • To act as the Business Partner to the Group Manager, to help ensure strong financial performance in the Businesses, providing detailed financial analysis and advice for continual improvement and strategic direction
  • To ensure control and compliance across the Group with all reporting, forecasting, control and audit requirements from the Portfolio. To support the development of best practices in the businesses that enhance financial performance, including supporting system implementations, coaching the Finance Leaders within the businesses, and sharing learnings from peer groups across Modaxo
  • To support the Group Manager on integration of acquisitions.

The Group Leadership Team is responsible for promoting and enabling Operational Excellence. As a key member of this select Group Leadership team, you will actively participate in supporting the Group as it builds its strategy and expands. While the Group continues to grow, both organically and via acquisitions, you will lead in building a Finance structure that can scale and grow alongside the business. You will share a passion for developing talent with a focus on building sustained long-term growth and creating a fantastic place to work.

The Group Finance Director reports into the Group Manager and works closely with the Finance teams of each business within the Group. Each Finance Leader for the businesses within the Group will have a dotted line reporting relationship to you.

Business Partnering and Management

  • Lead the monthly and quarterly financial review process (QSR) and annual strategic reviews for the Group. Support and proactively engage with the businesses to understand deviations, challenge business assumptions and provide advice to businesses on how to improve. Ensure our businesses execute on agreed improvements and track the execution.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the businesses. Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC, working capital and growth performance
  • Evaluate and challenge Project Bids, assessing pricing, market positioning and risks. Ensure compliance with Portfolio processes and parameters.
  • Build data models and trend analysis to assist the Group and Business Leaders in understanding the key business drivers.
  • Proactively respond to the requirements of the Group Manager to ensure all necessary tools and data to manage the businesses are provided (monthly summary reports, etc.).
  • Be able to step into a non-performing business, review and execute an action plan with the Business Leader for turnaround.
  • Develop and strengthen the finance organization across the Group, developing Finance talent.
  • Setup structures and processes for the Group to successfully scale (e.g., ensure control and governance elements are being thoroughly followed by the businesses, implement best practices across the businesses).
  • Finance & Reporting

  • Accountable for overseeing the accurate and timely monthly / quarterly financial reporting to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting with CSI requirements (IFRS).
  • Ensure efficient processes are in place in each business.
  • Drive the implementation of the specific systems required by the Portfolio to be implemented in each business (e.g., ERP systems) and also encourage the adoption of other local tools and systems that drive efficiency and data analytics.
  • Initiate and support working with the businesses to assess market pricing, new deal pricing, and sales approach for our products
  • Initiate and support the business in improving financial key performance indicators including working capital targets
  • Support internal and external audits and yearly statutory filings.
  • Ensure each business is in compliance with the Risk Management processes and audit best practice.
  • Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions.
  • Governance & Risk

  • Apply best practices to processes, people and systems to affect revenue, profitability and cash-flow, to improve operating efficiency and performance
  • Lead, implement and be accountable for introducing project profitability governance process across all businesses.
  • Lead and implement introduction of new systems and processes such as new financial systems, expense management and other reporting systems
  • Responsible for Risk Management process review, effective internal controls, policy standardization and process improvements
  • Oversee and improve effective administration processes and systems for company records and contracts
  • Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions
  • Acquisitions and Integrations

  • Oversee the integration team for all new acquisitions. Oversee the post-acquisition strategy setting, onboarding of finance teams, implementing risk and control environment, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and financial system conversion where applicable.
  • Own all post-acquisition deliverables such as purchase price accounting, Net Tangible Asset audits, contingent consideration reporting and post-acquisition reviews.
  • Required competencies / experiences

  • Educated to University level (Master’s degree), ideally in Finance, Business, Economics or Technology
  • Approximately 7-10 years in finance and accounting.
  • Indepth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and experience with overseeing accounting operations consisting of day-to-day recording and processing of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance (i.e. Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, etc.) Acquisition transaction and integration experience highly desired.
  • Experience within Software industry is highly preferred

  • Availability for travel domestically and internationally
  • Qualifications

  • CPA designation
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience working in a multi-unit, multi-P&L environment
  • High integrity and personal ethics due to sensitive issues and information this role entails
  • Desire to improve processes and systems rather than just keep the status quo
  • Strong communication skills to work across time zones and cultural differences

  • Beneficial Skills / Experience

  • Thorough understanding of IFRS for software (specifically IFRS 15 & 16)
  • Experience Great Plains is an asset
