The Senior Tax Analyst will report directly to the Tax Manager to support the tax function. Specifically, the role will be responsible for domestic tax compliance and reporting, support audits, and assist with planning, special projects, and expansion activities. The role requires a tax professional looking to advance their career in industry with the aptitude to learn and challenge themselves in a fast-paced environment with the ability to be proactive and work independently as well as with others. The role is diverse which will allow the Tax Analyst to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the Payments and Financial Services industry.

Key accountabilities include :

  • Proactively and in partnership with Manager, Tax prepare for Canadian income tax returns
  • Accountable for preparing monthly tax provisions and journal entries including tax account reconciliations, true ups adjustments and facilitate legal entity tax installment calculations
  • Responsible for the completion of consolidated tax provision under IFRS
  • Co-prepare with Manager, Tax, the annual SRED and other ad hoc tax recovery projects
  • Support tax audits from external auditors, various domestic tax authorities
  • Review and assist with monthly sales tax filings
  • Participate in ad hoc projects assigned including research of various tax topics
  • Prepare working paper documentation and memorandums in support of analysis and findings and tax items as needed
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Canadian income Tax

Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax and / or Finance
  • Must have professional accounting designation
  • 4+ years of Canadian corporate tax experience
  • Working towards completing or completion of In-Depth Tax course level 2 or 3 is an asset / preferred
  • Proficiency with computer software (Corporate Taxprep, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power point)
  • Experience working within IFRS environment is an asset
  • Sound business and finance knowledge and judgment
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational ability, able to handle multiple projects with a high level of accuracy and meet critical deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skill and problem-solving skills and ability to proactively identify and resolve issues
