Job Title : Heavy Duty Mechanics

Location : Dartmouth, Halifax, Antigonish and Sydney

Our client is your single source supplier of rental equipment, new & used equipment sales, specialty tools, building products, safety supplies and safety training programs for construction contractors, trades people, plant maintenance contractors and homeowners. Our customer sells thousands of brand name products and is the authorized distributor for such brands as Caterpillar, Spectra Precision / Trimble, Wacker Neuson, Stihl, Honda, SkyJack, Genie, Husqvarna, Atlas Copco, Bosch, Gorman-Rupp, as well as many others.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work station;
  • Troubleshoot and estimate costs of repairs;
  • Verify and inspect rental equipment to ensure proper functioning and to detect faults and avoid malfunctions;
  • Adjust equipment and repairs or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools;
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure manufacturers' specifications compliance;
  • Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work on equipment;
  • Service attachments and working tools;
  • Order parts as needed;
  • Complete different service reports.
  • Qualifications

    An experienced technician, or 3rd / 4th year apprentice with the ability to diagnosis, perform failure analysis, and repair all types of construction equipment.

  • Existing knowledge of construction equipment and building products;
  • Hands on experience in the repair and service / maintenance requirements for various types of construction equipment;
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with company and factory standards;
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team atmosphere;
  • Good communication and people skills;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Operate and maintain all shop equipment and ensure a safe, clean & organized shop area;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Branch & Service Managers.
