Job Summary

A day in the life of a caregiver :

As the caregiver, you will be responsible for providing assistance to a senior with some mobility issues. Working in the client's home in an independent living facility, you will work with the client to ensure that that living areas are kept clean, you will assist with day to day tasks around the household, and provide companionship. In addition to assisting with housekeeping activities you will provide assistance with various aspects of personal hygiene. You will also be responsible for taking the client and a small pet for walks. For this, you will need to be personable with good communication skills and fluency in English. You will need to be able to work independently at times and need to be detail oriented and have good organizational skills. There is no option to work remotely. Activities may require you to bend, crouch and kneel and involve periods of sitting, standing and walking. You may be required to handle weights up to 9kg (20 lbs). Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.The work location is non-smoking. Public transportation is available. .

Duties

Care for pets

Administer bedside and personal care

Administer medications

Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene

Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk

Change non-sterile dressings

Launder clothing and household linens

Mend clothing and linens

Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties

Provide companionship

Provide personal care

Prepare and serve nutritious meals

You must have :

A secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Prior experienced with elderly clients

Be fluent in English, fluency in Italian would be an asset

Certificate in CPR and First Aid

Preference will be given to those with a Personal Support Worker, practical nursing or equivalent Certificate / Training

References required

A police records check may be requested

Experience

at lest 6 months experience in caregiving or related fields such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
