How you’ll make an impact :
The Transportation and Customs Compliance Analyst will support the seamless movement of freight through the supply chain including assisting with the classification process, tracking and tracing, updating systems and reporting to internal partners. This position will maximize use of data analytics to drive decision making that will maximize on-time performance while minimizing costs.
This role typical reports into Customs Compliance & Logistics Manager and has no direct reports and is based in our Cambridge Distribution Center working on site, with some remote work.
80% : Daily Transportation Operations
Collaborate with Freight Forwarders, vendors, and Global Sourcing teams to ensure freight is moving through system accurately and make system adjustments when necessaryManage in transit visibility of shipments -from origin, ocean, and inland modes to final delivery.Liaise with logistics management teams to determine ways to optimize transit time maintain supply-chain efficiency and minimize cost.Support management of freight forwarders, customs broker, and Global sourcing office to manage Inbound freight to meet cost and OTIF(On-Time-In-Full) metricsAccrual reporting for transportation budget and monitor additional inbound freight.Provide analytical support- reports and tools to the internal / external partners- Supply Chain team, Procurement, Finance, Freight forwarder.Identify, propose systems and tools and implement opportunities for improvements.Liaise cross-functionally with various departments to resolve / coordinate logistics issues.Analyze and action daily and weekly transportation reports to support inbound prioritization between DC leadership and Freight Forwarders and carriersUtilize Transportation Management System (TMS) daily; subject matter expertise working in the Infor Nexus TMS system to identify, manage and escalate shipment risksCommunicate effectively business needs to external partners such as Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Carriers and Agents to improve global operating proceduresManage freight bill audit and payment to ensure timely and accurate invoice paymentAct as a backup for Transportation and Customs Compliance Manager20% : Customs Compliance Functions
Audit Customs documents and invoices for compliance with CBSA regulationsAnalyze B3 accounting to ensure correct HS duty rates have been appliedCreate and maintain HTS database to meet Customs information and distribute to key personnel, brokers & vendorWe’d Love to hear from you if : (Requirements section)
Must have :
1.Analytical Skills – enable to analyze data and identify discrepancies for compliance and data quality. Develop strategies to mitigate any risks.
2.Knowledge of TMS and Customs regulations- good understanding of Incoterms, ocean route optimization, import / export regulations, HS classification & trade compliance
3.Risk assessment – Assess potential risks associated with specific routes, labor disruptions or geopolitical factors. Able to make informed decisions and mitigate risk to our inbound shipments.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (strong skills in Outlook and Excel) & TableauExceptional analytical skills with the ability to articulate these skills in effective Excel or Tableau modelsUtilize excellent judgment and decision-making skills under pressure in a dynamic fast-paced environmentAbility to communicate and work with a wide variety of audiences, internal and external, both business and technicalExceptional prioritization and project management skills with a strong attention to detailPreferred skills and experience :
