Diesel Service Attendant

Joining the Diesel Service Attendant role at CPKC —North America’s first transnational railroad connecting the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This position puts safety first, fueling economic growth and providing career development.

Purpose of the position

As a Diesel Service Attendant, you will keep locomotives moving. You’ll fuel, clean, test, and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast‑paced, safety‑driven environment that meets strict regulatory standards.

Position accountabilities

• Refuel and sand locomotives while ensuring cab amenities are stocked for crew comfort.
• Inspect and perform basic repairs on locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment to maintain operational reliability.
• Assess parts for reuse or replacement, supporting cost‑effective maintenance practices.
• Clean and service locomotive cabs, including walls, floors, windows, and toilets, to uphold safety and hygiene standards.
• Test cab electrical systems and safety devices, set up cab brakes per operational requirements, and complete all crew-to‑crew documentation.
• Perform additional duties as outlined in the collective agreement.
