WAGE : $35.32 / per hour (under review)
HOURS OF WORK : Monday to Friday, 32 Hours weekly- with the possibility of weekends – Flexible working hours may be required
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Working in partnership with the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) under the direction of the Indigenous Relations Department, the Indigenous Resource Liaison is responsible for developing and providing education and awareness about safe reporting in our community as outlined in the Community Support Fund (CSF). The objective of the CSF is to support the City of Lethbridge in their efforts to address and improve the well-being of community members with a focus on Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQIA2S+ community.
The Liaison will develop preventative resources for the community and deliver in accordance with the CSF goals. They will establish community partnerships to help individuals obtain community resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
This position supports the advancement of City Council’s commitments to reconciliation, including the Reconciliation Implementation Plan (2017), Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Recommendations and Work Plan (2021) as well as supporting the work of the Reconciliation Lethbridge Advisory Committee of City Council.
Eligibility : This opportunity is grant funded and open to self-identifying First Nation, Metis, and Inuit applicants.
Education : Possesses a proven track record in strategic social and / or health education which could include expertise relating to health promotion and education practices, addiction and mental health, or other social work. A relevant diploma / certificate and experience in a relevant discipline is preferred with a knowledge of legal processes and community resources.
Experience : The individual will have proven experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in results-oriented, high paced culture focused on preventative promotion and education programming. An understanding of Indigenous Cultural processes as well as legal procedures.
Required Competencies : Must possess a valid Alberta driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Facility Dogs :
As this is a position that will be working closely with LPS, it is important for you to know that LPS has two facility dogs in the workplace. LPS facility dogs are here to support our employees in a positive, constructive manner. Further, LPS facility dogs support the emotional needs of victim’s and or witnesses through the Criminal Justice Process. A Facility Dog is directed by a professional with specialized expertise. Facility dogs frequent many areas of our building. In addition, we have police service dogs. Our police service dogs have minimal interaction with employees on site under the supervision of a trained handler.
