Position
The Forensic General Unit (FGUC) within the Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a part-time, permanent Program Assistant to work in a Forensic General Unit with clients under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board. The Program Assistant reports to the Manager and is a member of the inter-professional team. The role supports the organization and optimal function of the service under the direction of clinical staff and promotes maintenance of the therapeutic milieu.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and participate in the assessment of designated clients.
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring a safe environment and applying principles of least restraint to minimize agitation.
- Spend time on the unit with clients to support participation in meaningful activities that promote recovery.
- Accompany clients on and off site for transfers, appointments, and programming as needed.
- Collect data and communicate behavioural observations, interactions, and client responses to care interventions, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain program security and contribute to the regulation of the physical environment.
- Support a diverse, team-focused workplace and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Location : 1001 Queen Street West.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
Grade 12 education or equivalent; CPR Certification and a Personal Care Worker Certificate, or pursuing a certificate / diploma / degree in a health-related field.First Aid training and computer skills are assets.6 months to 1 year of experience in a health-related field preferred.Ability to work with diverse clients and staff; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills in an interprofessional team.Reliable, cooperative, client-focused, and a motivated team player with initiative.Organizational, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.Familiarity with clinical care and issues related to mental health and / or addiction settings preferred.Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.Other
