This project was completed in 2018.FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.Project OpportunityWe are looking for an Environmental Inspector to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project.This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON and requires a daily presence in the office and / or on the construction sites..Reports to : Environmental DirectorThe Environmental Inspector will be responsible for ensuring conformance of the works with the Environmental Management System (EMS) for the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations project. This encompasses daily oversight and coordination of environmental and contractual compliance across the pre-construction, procurement, and delivery phases.The Environmental Inspector key responsibilities are : Conduct daily monitoring and inspections on all aspects of the Works in accordance with the Environmental Management System (EMS) during construction.Maintain a log of monitoring and inspection events.Complete monitoring and inspection reports .Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting any inefficient practices and / or issues of non-compliance.Maintain a full understanding of the environmental requirements, including necessary permits and authorizations, Best Management Practices, and the requirements of the Environmental Management Plan and Environmental Work Plans.Foster close collaboration with project teams and subcontractors to address environmental issues in a practical manner.Support the Environmental Team with coordination of daily activities including coordination with the design and construction teams to ensure that designs meet the requirements Schedule 17 – Environmental Obligations.Prepare daily / weekly reports related to environmental activities and compliance monitoring.Create and present Environmental Management System (EMS) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) progress reports to the project teams and subcontractors as required.Participate in project meetings to coordinate, track and provide updates on environmental matters, progress, and address concerns related to environmental management.Conduct daily site meetings, including environmental orientation and educational training to project site members.Liaise with Environmental Manager and regulatory inspectors as required.Implement control measures to mitigate the impact on environmental values resulting from construction activities.Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSA diploma or a bachelor or advanced degree in an environmental related discipline (ecology / biology / environmental science) from a recognized post-secondary institution.A minimum of five years of demonstrated work experience.Experience in all aspects of environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or construction of transit infrastructure, specifically with respect to work in and around watercourses and in the application and correction of erosion and sedimentation control measures, reporting Spills and the containment of effluent and dust during construction.Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC), or have proven proficiency in observing, inspecting and reporting on the implementation of Erosion and Sediment Control PlansPrevious experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, and EMS software would be desirable.Background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an asset.Prior experience dealing with Ministry of Natural Resources, Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks would be a plus.Familiarity with interpreting drawings is an asset.JOB REQUIREMENTSKnowledge of environmental legislation in Ontario.Experience working in construction / infrastructure industry or related field / s.Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and tracking environmental practices and performance.Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively plan and prioritize workloads.Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team setting.Proficiency in handling complex situations and knowing when to escalate issues to higher authorities for resolution.Capability to defuse tensions and manage conflicts calmly and professionally within project environments.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Possession of a full and valid Ontario driver's license.Diversity & Inclusion champion.WORK ENVIRONMENTFCC Canada is committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive culture which promotes gender equity and the recruitment of all under-represented groups in all levels of its workforce.
