Role Description
This role sits within thePricing and Research team. The team isresponsible for the acquisition and management of profitable reinsurancebusiness for Gen Re’s Life and Health operations in Canada, as well asconducting wider research to support client and strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate forthis role will be a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and / or a Fellowof the Society of Actuaries. Thecandidate will also have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
Mainpurpose of role :
Thisis a varied role giving the incumbent breadth of scope from both a technicaland client facing perspective within Gen Re Canada. The role includes producingquotations for individual and group life / health reinsurance business,providing technical actuarial expertise on existing treaties and well as moregeneral pricing and analytic research work. There will be client contact and interactionwith other departments in the UK, South Africa and US Gen Re offices.
Keyresponsibilities of role include :
- Preparing quotations for individual and group reinsurance business, including basis-setting, production of premium rates and obtaining the appropriate sign off.
- Conducting of experience analysis investigations for the purposes of monitoring Gen Re’s experience and for quotations.
- Undertaking research to set general pricing bases (Terms of Trade).
- Giving risk management input to product and process design.
- Client interaction and resolving technical issues for clients.
- Giving presentations at internal and external events and writing technical articles.
- Occasional support for other Gen Re offices.
Role Qualifications and Experience
Fellow ActuaryAt least 5 years’ experience in an insurance or reinsurance environment in roles involving any of pricing, product development product and / or protection insurance.Excellent skills in statistical and financial modelling.Excellent risk management and commercial awareness.Proficient user of MS Excel.Proficient user of Moody’s AXIS or similar modelling software.Strong numerical and analytical skills.Enquiring mind.Proactive and able to work with minimum supervision.Ability to prioritise, while remaining flexible to deal with changing work demands.Strong verbal and written communication skills.The ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, partner with colleagues of various levels across all areas of the business and engage with clients.Must enjoy a collaborative approach to solving problems and working with others.We offer a competitivecompensation package, including an annual incentive bonus plan, comprehensivebenefits, paid time off and Actuarial exam support.
