Job description

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company is seeking an experienced Business Continuity Consultant to help our client and lead the development and implementation of business continuity plans for multipole municipal departments. This role is integral to ensuring that essential services can withstand and recover from disruptions such as natural disasters, cyber-attacks, and other adverse events.

Responsibilities :

  • Business Continuity Evaluation :
  • Assess current business continuity practices across multiple departments.
  • Identify gaps and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Business Impact Analysis (BIA) :
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify critical systems and processes.
  • Determine acceptable recovery time objectives and organizational risk tolerances.
  • Plan Development :
  • Collaborate with department leads to create tailored business continuity plans.
  • Ensure plans are actionable and align with industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting :
  • Present findings and recommendations to departmental stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing gaps, solutions, and priorities.
  • Conduct executive presentations and departmental training on continuity plans.
  • Project Management :
  • Oversee all phases of the business continuity project, from strategy development to final reporting.
  • Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure project success.

Requirements :

  • 8+ years of experience in developing business continuity plans for public or private sector organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience in business continuity, risk management, or disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, BIA, and gap analysis methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple departments or stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working with municipalities or public sector entities.
  • Understanding of operational risks, cyber risks, and IT disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 22301).
  • Certification in Business Continuity (CBCP, MBCP, or equivalent).
