The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operational Excellence Program Manager to join AFG and be located at a current AFG operation in Alberta or British Columbia. If you are passionate about process improvement, change management, optimizing processes and systems, building relationships and managing projects, then this may be an excellent opportunity for you. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Operational Excellence Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, refinement and monitoring of systems and initiatives to improve the operational processes and results across the All-Fab Group of companies. This critical and exciting role is a combination of Industrial Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Production Management, and Project Management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance and develop policies, procedures, and service systems to support AFG in the pursuit of its goals to improve yields, enhance efficiency, and efforts to evolve the industry into a high-tech and innovative space.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and build effective relationships, foster teamwork and gain buy-in from all levels of team members at AFG.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance. Leveraging Change Management and Project Management principles are key to success.
  • Implement and maintain operational scorecards for manufacturing divisions.
  • Advocate for the company’s Health and Safety program.
  • Develop and maintain a capacity resource planning system.
  • Will be the owner and subject matter expert of the MiTek Virtual Plant system, tracking workorders, hours, etc.
  • Manage projects as part of the Al-Fab Group production system implementation to create alignment of best practices across all divisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Wood Products Processing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing and / or processing environment.
  • Technically savvy and experience with utilizing and leveraging data analytics.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Continuous improvement training and experience – Toyota Production System or equivalent training is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building skills, and a natural inclination to be curious and inquisitive.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
